So many happy and fun memories of Martin's wry sense of humour, but I was reminded of one particularly seeing the photos today.

Jeremy and I were on our way back from Peebles after collecting a set of Northumbrian bagpipes (!) We had arranged to meet with Pam and Martin in Hebden Bridge to surprise our friend Wendy in her stage appearance at the Little Theatre in Hebden. Getting out of the car Martin immediately wanted to see the bagpipes - then quietly (as was his style) went to the back of their car and decanted the enormous Alphorn!

He'd brought it all that way for a duet, he said.  Hebden was definitely not ready for this! I have a vague recollection he may even have blown it in the White Lion Hotel car park...
