Martin began working as Head of Biology at Radcliffe in September 1972. He changed posts and became head of Rural Studies, where he took charge of and developed something not dissimilar to a small farmstead, comprising of sheep, goats, ducks, rabbits, mice, gerbils, stick insects and bees.
The Buckle's first dog, Whisky, was a regular attendant for Martin's classes, keeping the children entertained and providing an excellent companion during lunch breaks.
